I will be the first to admit, yes, I am a youtube-aholic.. I
really enjoy watching all the entertaining, funny, strange and
educational videos you can find there. I subscribe to some of my
favourite channels, and I will give you some tips to great
youtube-videos.
Wow, it has been a year since my last blog post. I guess I have
not had as many blog-ideas as I hoped. Or the will to write my ideas
down. I will try to change that.
I am writing in english, so I get to practise my english, since I
don't often write any other language than norwegian. Do you prefer to
read my blog in english or norwegian? I guess I don't have many
non-norwegian readers, but I do hope to get more, so I will try to
stick with english.
Today's topic is eye-surgery. And the fact that I am going to have
one. OMG! I have been dreaming about having it done for years, ever
since I found out I am near-sighted and started using lenses. I guess
it's been over 10 years since I had to get them. But I have been
using day- and night lenses that you only have to take out and change
once a month, witch is no hassle at all, and I therefore did not mind
using them. But since I got allergic to my cats and other things, I
have not been able to use them any more. They just cloud up in matter
of days, so for the past year, I have been using day-lenses that I
throw away at night, and use fresh ones in the morning. To be honest,
I love to sleep in and use minimal time in the morning, so to be able
to cut out the fumbling with new lenses every morning is going to be
awesome! And taking a nap in the middle of the day, even for just a
few minutes, really dries out your eyes if you are wearing
day-lenses. So yes, laser-surgery!
The type of surgery I will have is called c Ten. It is the safest
and most high-teck laser-surgery you can get in Norway. I have been
reading about different types of laser-surgery for many years, and at
last I have decided to get this type. It differs for LASIK (the most
common type of surgery) by not creating a “flap” on your cornea,
witch is usually what causes problems if you are unlucky and get
complications from your surgery. The c Ten uses just the laser-beam
to remove the top layer of cells, and then goes on to correct your
vision. It takes usually just 20-30 sec. It is usually more painful
and it takes almost a week before you can see clearly, because the
cells need to regrow over your outer cornea. With the flap in LASIK
you don’t have to wait for this, and you usually can see clearly
within the first days after the surgery. But then you can get
problems with the flap moving, get regrowth under the flap and so
forth, that’s why I stick to the c Ten
If you are not squeamish, here is an intro to LASIK (the one with
the flap):
And here is the surgery I will take, c Ten, and you will see the
difference:
So now I have been using glasses since Tuesday, because you cant
wear lenses the last 7 days before the surgery. And I have been
taking 1000 mg of omega 3 and C-vitamin every day for a week before
surgery and two weeks after to boost healing and the immune-system. I
am also going to take doses of ibuprofen from Monday to Friday next
week, and also a whole regime of eye-drops I will start with just
after surgery. And the surgery-date is on Wednesday 30.may! The 2-3
days after I will have to spend resting my eyes, so I can't read,
watch television or use the computer! I will almost get bored to
death, I think! My only rescue is audio-books. Espen has recommended
Nightside, so I hope it's a very entertaining series.
Finally, here is a picture of me with my glasses, hopefully I will
not have to use glasses until I am older and greyer and have to use
reading-glasses.
Yes, this blog is a lot about my kitchen.. And I am sorry, but it is a big part of my life at the moment, as it is hell to live without. So I guess when it is finished, my blog will be more about other stuff.. Cooking for example.. Hehe.
Today we got some great masoners to do the tiles in the kitchen. The walls are so crooked, so if I would try doing it myself, I guess it would look awful. I am a bit handy, but I have never done tiling, and this was a challenge even for the pros. But they did a great job, and now you can se the result for yourself. Just look, no touching, it has to dry until tomorrow! ;)
Yes, at last we have our balcony back! This weekend we worked hard and cleaned out the temporary storagespace that was our balcony. This was where our old kitchen lived while we were building the new one. And just in time for the summersun-temperatures, we now have a nice balcony with a sofa and flowers.
Just take a look!
Not that big, but we now got a sunbed/sofa, and the sunshine from 12:00 and until it sets.
I made two of these, with superpetunias, ivy and a stepmotherflower..
Cozy!
My boyfriend enjoying a nice place to smoke (not my intension, i hate smoking!) and we got some sunpowered lights for a cozy atmosphere at night.
And now, a little preview on the tiles we bought for the kitchen! What do you think? It will be on the long wall behind the sink and hotplates. It is matte with glossy markings.
Yes, at last, after days of hard work, and thanks to my electritian we now have a working fridge and freezer. And even the stove is in place. Here are some pictures of the kitchen so far (have gotten some more drawers and stuff in plase now)
Here you see the sink, and where the stove and fridge will be.
Here you can se how big my workbench will be, baking and looking out the window.. The hotplates you can see to the right. (the fronts of the drawers are not blue, just have not removed the protective coating on them yet)
This we did today, installed the stove and fridge!
At last i can store some food again! Really missed my milk.. :D
